Joshua Pearson
Joshua completed his BSc in Human Neuroscience at the University of Birmingham, and later developed these knowledge and skills toward mental health research during an MSc in Psychiatric Research at King’s College London. His main interests are in developing objective Neuroscientific measures to predict important outcomes in mental illness and better understand their origin, in order to target existing and new treatments more effectively.
The PhD project he will be carrying out explores innovative approaches to predicting treatment-resistance and impaired cognition in First Episode Psychosis, using Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation paired with Electroencephalography (TMS-EEG). This aims to facilitate early and personalised interventions, while potentially supporting research developing novel pharmacological and neuromodulatory Psychosis therapies targeting GABA/Glutamate imbalance.
