Ayanna Korpal
Ayanna Korpal is a Research Assistant at the Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS) She has completed an undergraduate degree in Psychology at University of the West of England (2022) and a Master’s degree in Cognitive Neuropsychology at the University of Kent (2023). Ayanna has previously worked within Kent in the private sector working within multidisciplinary teams to facilitate rehabilitation after acquired brain injury, enabling her to acquire a vast amount of clinical and professional knowledge from specialised allied professionals.
Ayanna’s interest is within cognitive neuropsychology and how cognitive deficits impact an individual’s wider wellbeing and mental health and ways this can be mitigated. Her previous research has examined advancements in brain injury research and misconceptions held around mild traumatic brain injury. Ayanna has also examined the casual role of the right inferior frontal gyrus in empathetic responses through non-invasive brain stimulation. At present her work with Sukhi leans towards a more clinical approach to mental health research, working on the development of research grants.
